Date of Publishing: 04/11/2025                Affected Region: Turkey

The Turkish Halal Accreditation Agency (HAK) has issued a communiqué—effective January 1, 2026—establishing procedures for the import inspection of products bearing halal marks or certificates. It aims to prevent misleading halal claims and ensure compliance with national regulations. All imports claiming halal status must undergo inspection through Turkey’s electronic Single Window System, with halal certificates accepted only if issued by HAK or organizations recognized under mutual accreditation agreements.

Importers are fully responsible for the accuracy of submitted documents and product compliance. Non-conformities may lead to rejection, return, or destruction of products, while false or misleading declarations can result in penalties and suspension of import privileges.
