The General Tax Authority (GTA) of Qatar has issued a new guideline on the application of the Excise Tax Tiered Volumetric Model for sweetened drinks in the State of Qatar.

The guideline is designed to help businesses and relevant stakeholders better understand the updated excise tax framework, including how the tiered volumetric model applies to sweetened beverages based on their composition and classification. It also provides clarity on compliance expectations, calculation methods, and regulatory considerations for affected products in the Qatari market.

Companies involved in the import, manufacture, distribution, or sale of sweetened beverages are encouraged to review the guideline carefully to ensure alignment with the latest regulatory requirements.
