Oman Bans Production and Import of Products Containing Partially Hydrogenated Oils

The Omani authorities are requesting the companies to declare the type of oil hydrogenation and to submit a test report from an accredited lab to clear shipments.

This is to ensure that products are free from PHOs (Partially hydrogenated oils) since these are banned according to Ministerial Decree No. 83 of 2022 issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resource. This came into force on the 24th of July 2022.

We advise to always declare the type of oil hydrogenation on labels of products containing oils as well as to submit a lab test to show type of oils being used.
