KSA Draft for Supplementary Sport Foods

This regulation applies to athletes products. It includes athletes food and beverages such as (powders, liquids, chewable tablets, sparkling, or bars), and is mainly made from carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and amino acids. Additionally, they are prepared from one or more of the following: amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and plant extracts, and they are not used for treatment, weight loss, and as part of medical treatment. Furthermore, it includes (supplementary sports food high in carbohydrates, supplementary sports food containing protein and energy, supplementary sports food containing energy, supplementary sports food containing protein and/or amino acids, and supplementary sports food for other purposes).

This regulation is intended to cancel and replace:

• SFDA.FD GSO 2397 'Foods for Special Dietary Uses – General Requirements for Athlete Food'
• SFDA.FD GSO 2209 'Foods for Special Dietary Uses – General Requirements for Athlete Food and Body Building'
• SFDA.FD GSO 2471 'Labelling of Body Building Foods'
