UAE: Titanium dioxide (E171) is a widely used substance that has been utilized in various industries, including food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. It is a white pigment that is added to food products to make them look more appealing and visually attractive. However, recent studies have shown that titanium dioxide can have harmful effects on human health, leading to its ban as a food additive in several countries.

Titanium dioxide is a nanoparticle that is used as a colouring agent in food products, such as candy, chewing gum, and frosting. Due to its side effects, and to align with Gulf and international movements towards the protection of human health, it is now banned in UAE.
